The world headquarters of RI are in Evanston, Illinois, USA. ‘Room 711’, where the first Rotary meeting was held in Chicago in 1905 is recreated in the HQ building as a museum. The main objective of Rotary is service in the community and throughout the world. Rotarians build goodwill and peace, provide humanitarian service, and encourage high ethical standards in all vocations. The Rotary motto is ‘Service Above Self’.

RIBI is a long established territorial administrative unit of RI and the administrators of rotary in these islands. There are 29 Districts in RIBI, each one administered by a District Governor who serves for one year. There are some 59,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in 1,835 clubs helping those in need and working towards world understanding and peace.
